Random Eats: October - December 2018

Item: Cookies n Cream Ice Cream
Location: Chocomory (Jl. Soekarno Hatta, Semarang)
The milk taste was dominant here, so it might not be easy to enjoy this ice cream unless you like milk.

Item: Pie Susu Chocolate
Location: Chocomory (Jl. Soekarno Hatta, Semarang)
The pie crust is akin to the one used for fruit tart, but this one is tougher. I initially thought the filling would taste like pie susu filling, but it turned out crackling. Not recommended.

Item: Chocoreo Choc-o' Bag
Location: Chocomory (Jl. Soekarno Hatta, Semarang)
It is a kind of Oreo with chocolate coating , which tasted like 'Better' snack. Best if served chilled.

Item: Beef Bulgogi - IDR28,000
Location: Master Plate (Jl. Depok, Semarang)
It might not taste as authentic as real Korean bulgogi, but it is safe to say that this dish was decent. The beef slices were soaked in savory bulgogi sauce with sesame seeds. Not bad!

Item: Cheese Chicken - IDR30,000
Location: Master Plate (Jl. Depok, Semarang)
Beware, this dish might get very cheesy. I already felt jelat only by eating a few spoonfuls.

Item: Dori Telur Asin - IDR30,000
Location: Master Plate (Jl. Depok, Semarang)
The dori fish was succulent with the right amount of tenderness. The salted egg sauce was pretty rich and went well with the fish.

Item: Pangsit Mie Ayam
Location: Depot Mie Borobudur (Jl. Candi Brahu, Malang)
It tasted similar to Pangsit Mie Sawahan in a good way (don't be surprised, as the owner used to be a part of Sawahan before they went their separate ways). Psst, you can request for the pork version of this dish too!

Item: Toby's Signature Pancakes - IDR68,000
Location: Toby's Estate (Tunjungan Plaza 5, Surabaya)
It looks more like ricotta hotcake than normal pancake, although the presentation is undeniably made for the 'gram. The pancake was crispy on the outside but somehow it was kind of dry-ish. The fruits were fresh and the serving was super filling even for two girls.

Item: Pangsit Goreng (5 pcs) - IDR12,728
Location: Bakmi GM (Tunjungan Plaza 6, Surabaya)
I don't ever want to order this again. The crispy skin tasted weird and the filling is very little; I felt cheated.

Item: Pangsit Mie Ayam Biasa - IDR18,182
Location: Mie Mapan (Plaza Surabaya, Surabaya)
Mie Mapan is on my list of the best pangsit mie in Surabaya. The noodle was so soft and the wonton filling was savory and juicy. The best part: it is inexpensive haha.

Item: Nasi Ayam Geprek Bensu Keju (Level 1) - IDR25,000
Location: Geprek Bensu (Jl. Tumapel, Surabaya)
I love Bensu's chicken as it tasted like McDonald's chicken and it is good to eat on its own. The level 1 sambal was already spicy for me, but still tolerable thanks to the presence of grated cheese.

Item: Cheese Tteokbokki - IDR25,454
Location: Tteok-Tteok (Ciputra World, Surabaya)
I thought the cheese would be melted cheese, but it was just cheese bits put on top of the tteokbokki. It tasted a bit under-seasoned though.

Item: Coffee Gelato - IDR28,000 (piccolo size)
Location: Gaya Gelato (bazaar in Surabaya)
Finally I could enjoy Gaya Gelato in Surabaya (really hope they could open a permanent outlet here)! I felt like drinking real coffee in ice cream form. Nice! If only it was not that ex hurhur.

Item: Es Kopi Susu Gula Aren - IDR16,000
Location: Cocoalatory (bazaar in Surabaya)
Failed! It tasted horrible. Perhaps I should not expect too much if it is not coming from a well-known brand.

Item: Tokyo Banana Fondue - IDR10,000
Location: Cocoalatory (bazaar in Surabaya)
It is like banana-flavored sponge cake dipped into chocolate fondue. The sponge cake was dry and the chocolate sauce did not taste 'premium'. But overall still worth trying if you are really intrigued.

Item: Babi Salted Egg - IDR40,000
Location: Cipork Keriyuk (bazaar in Surabaya)
This is one hell of sinfulness in a bowl! Just imagine having crispy pork belly and bacon topped with salted egg sauce and crispy potato crumbs on top! For a while I forgot the cholesterol I might get from all those glorious fats lol.
