Maccha House 抹茶館, Singapore

Serving various matcha drink and dessert (and even simple Japanese food too), Maccha House is really a heaven for matcha lovers. Maccha House is located in the basement of Orchard Central with spacious seating area. Order and collection are to be made at the counter as this place implements self-service system.

Maccha - $3.90 (regular size)
This is just plain matcha drink without any sugar or other additional. It tasted bitter, and if it gets too bitter for you, you might want to add some sugar into it (sugar packets are available at the counter). My friend disliked this drink, but I thought it was just normal - it actually tasted like ocha I usually had at Japanese restaurants.

Maccha Cream Latte - $4.90 (regular size)
I did not expect my drink to be served in an ordinary plastic glass tbh, but never mind, I did care more with the taste haha. The drink came in a light green color. The matcha taste was strong with the right level of sweetness. Best when stirred together with the whipped cream. This is what you call real matcha drink, unlike other shops whose matcha drink tastes so artificial.

Maccha Latte Float - $4.90 (regular size)
This drink came with a scoop of matcha ice cream (hand-scooped ice cream, not soft-serve). It tasted exactly the same as the cream latte minus the cream, but it did not make the drink less creamy. I think they should have put less ice cube inside so it would not get diluted fast.

Hot Maccha Latte - $3.80
I found this a bit too sweet for my liking. Somehow, the hot version tasted like instant matcha drink I often made at home. Anyway, the matcha scent smelled so good here.

Pork Katsu Curry Set - $10.80
The set came with small matcha tiramisu which tasted like normal sponge cake with thin layer of azuki (red beans). The pork katsu curry itself was a filling meal. The pork meat was juicy with crispy breadcrumb skin. I like the fact that they served the curry in a separate bowl, thus we could pour it according to our liking.

Maccha Soft-Serve - $3.40
We can choose the ice cream to be served in a cup of on a waffle cone. I chose to have it in a cup since it would be less troublesome to eat haha. The texture was soft and although it was made of pure matcha, it did not taste too bitter.

Maccha Mixed Soft-Serve - $3.40
My friend had her ice cream served on a waffle cone. They actually gave more ice cream on cone compared to in cup (sounds nonsense but it is the truth lol)! It was a mix between vanilla and matcha flavor. It tasted sweeter than pure matcha flavor thanks to the sweetness from the vanilla.

Overall, Maccha House is a place that all matcha lovers simply cannot miss. It is a good place to gather with friends after lunch or dinner. The customer turnover is pretty quick here, which explains the popularity of this place.
