[Re-branded] The Hangar, Singapore

This is another hipster cafe located on Arab Street. Yes, it is really hipster, not those wannabe hipster cafes full of fashionable girls carrying a DSLR with mediocre yet overpriced food. The words 'sexy coffee' in front of this cafe will definitely catch your attention. Below, there is another tagline: 'coffee, sandwiches, salads, and shit like that'. Ahem. Real hipster cafe ain't hesitant to use vulgarity.

The water is free-flow and the staff regularly refilled our glasses

Fresh Lime & Thyme Soda - $6.90
The leaves looked annoying, but the drink was quite nice haha. It was refreshing and tasted unusually good.

Cappuccino - $5
Being praised for serving great cuppa, there is no reason for me not to try it. I gotta admit, it was a nice perk-me-up. It was smooth, not so acidic with a bittersweet finish. The latte art was on point too!

Roast Italian Pork - $15.90
The pork tasted really really yummy and the cauliflower salad was a unique one.

Fully Sick Sandwich - $13.90
Da bomb! At first I had a hard time using knife and fork to eat, but finally I decided to use bare hands haha. The chicken matched really well with the basil pesto yogurt dressing and mozzarella, resulting in a very flavorful combination. I like the sensation when the aromatic basil pesto sauce and the sour flavor of yogurt exploded together in every munch. The rye bread was already good on its own, unlike other sandwich bread that usually sucked. Despite the name, I did not get sick of eating this sandwich!

The atmosphere of this cafe made me feel like I was somewhere in the downtown of Sydney or Melbourne instead of Singapore. There is no GST or service charge here, yet they had shown amiable service from the very beginning. The ang moh owner regularly came around asking guests for their feedback. While waiting for our food to come, a staff asked us if we would like to move to a bigger seat since the previous patrons sitting there had already left. Oh my, never in my life I had such thoughtful service! Most of the time in most places, the staff will not be likely to put 2 persons on a 4 persons seat. But here, the staff actually put a concern on our comfort, they knew it was not really nice to sit facing the washing sink. Overall, it was a truly pleasant experience at The Hangar.

*UPDATE: The Hangar has now been re-branded as 'Hangar Roasters'
