Visma Coffee, Surabaya
When you feel tired of living in one dimensional life, you should take some time to lay back and relax. But if you cannot travel far from the downtown, Visma could be a good choice. Visma is a cafe cum co-working space in the heart of Surabaya, precisely on Jl. Tegalsari. It also functions as an art gallery too, where they display some sculptures and paintings (not sure if they are available for sale tho).
Order and payment were done at the counter, then the staff will bring the food to your table
The coffee here is generally good. The hot latte that I got was not too acidic, a perfect company to start the day.

The staff pointed out Mee Goreng Malaysia as one of Visma's favorite menus. Strangely enough, the dish was served with keripik tempe (soybean chips), which was rather soggy. The texture of the noodle was a bit too wet (as what Javanese people refer to as 'nyemek'), but it tasted quite delicious with good wok hei fragrance. It had a good balance of sweet and spicy flavors.
The pasta had a lovely al dente. The carbonara sauce was too thick and cheesy, which I was not very fond of. The smoked beef and mushroom came in generous amount though.
Overall, my visit to Visma was somewhat satisfying. The quality of the food was decent, but not great. Thankfully the coffee was nice, coz that's what I needed the most. The pricing is pretty decent too, slightly cheaper than average cafe. I would recommend this place to find tranquility in the hustle and bustle of the city.
