Let's Go Gelato, Surabaya

Hello readers! First of all, I would like to say Happy Eid al-Fitr for those who celebrate. This Raya holiday, I had the chance to try a new gelato place in MERR named Let's Go Gelato. Sounds familiar? No wonder, because this Bandung-origin gelato has several outlets in cities across Java and Sumatra. I personally had been eyeing on them ever since they first opened in Surabaya a few weeks ago, and I had read good reviews from quite a number of reliable foodies.

The outlet in MERR is surprisingly very spacious but imo there is a little confusion on its concept. They put pastel blue color and buoys as decorations on the front part of the shop but the wall is painted with green leaf patterns. Hmm... By the way, Let's Go Gelato shares the same premise with Papyrus Photo, which is located on the second floor.

Let's take a look at their gelato display! There are 28 flavors to choose from, which shows that they are being serious with gelato as their main selling point. Just looking at those 2 displays made me want to get a scoop of every flavor. Almost all flavors you can think of are available here, including unique flavors like probiotic (Yakult), red Bangkok (Thai tea), and unicorn (vanilla bubblegum). Oh, and they have food options on their menu too, but none of their heavy meal enticed me so I went for the light bites only.

Truffle Fries - IDR30,000
This dish was a disappointment. I paid IDR30,000 for a serving of fries with almost no trace of truffle oil (could only taste the truffle on the first 5 pieces of fries that I ate).

Red Velvet Gelato - IDR25,000 (small size)
The first thing I noticed from Let's Go Gelato was that the gelato melted so quickly! Or was it just the merciless Surabaya hot weather? Anyway, the gelato was moderately creamy and I could feel the nuance of red velvet cake sans cream cheese.

Milky Way & Berry Yoghurt Gelato - IDR35,000 (medium size)
The Milky Way was just a fancy name for cookies & cream flavor. It had a fair amount of Oreo crumb inside. The texture of Berry Yoghurt flavor felt more velvety than Milky Way and it had a well-rounded and refreshing flavor. It was my favorite among all the 3 flavors.

Overall, Let's Go Gelato might be a tad pricey as compared to other brands, but it serves quality gelato in a cozy ambiance. So, what are you waiting for? Beat the heat and have some gelato at Let's Go Gelato!
