[Closed] Habitat by Honestbee, Singapore
On my previous trip to Singapore, I managed to visit an uber cool place away from the crowd. It is not a natural attraction nor shopping mall, but a grocery shop owned by Honestbee, a mobile application for grocery shopping and food delivery. Not only retail, Habitat also provides dining experience like no other. You can literally see, smell, touch and taste various fresh food from across the globe. What differs Habitat from other grocery shops is that you never have to worry about being cashless or having to queue. Ready for the experience?
First of all, you can take public bus or MRT to reach Habitat. The nearest MRT station is Pasir Panjang, but you still have to walk for a few metres to the place. There is also free shuttle bus from HarbourFront and Labrador Park MRT every Saturday and Sunday (you can check the timetable here). If you drive, you will get 3 hours of free parking every Saturday and Sunday too.

Once you reach Habitat, you need to have the Honestbee mobile application for entry. Use the QR code on the app to open the gantry. The application will be used inside the store for cashless transactions and personalized service. Wi-fi is available, so you may download the app and register on the spot.
The ambiance here is casual, bright, and airy with wooden furniture and high ceiling. You can shop unhurriedly while watching people go by in a lively atmosphere.
Products in Habitat are sourced directly from farmers and established producers from around the world. You can find unique items such as Japanese spices, fresh meat, limited edition balsamic vinegar and seasonal products from well-known brand like Cadbury. All products are listed on the app and payment is made through the app. Once again, cash is not accepted here and there is not any counter to top-up your Honestbee credit using cash.
That's my name there haha
If you purchase less than 10 items, you may use Scan & Go feature on the app. Scan the barcode of the item you want to purchase and it will be added to your 'cart' automatically just like how the conventional cashier system works. After scanning one item, you can move on to the next item.

Once you are done shopping, simply make your way to Checkout Point, scan the items (if you purchase more than 10 items) and the 'bee' will take care of the packing for you. Despite the full use of technology, doesn't mean there is no human staff here. There are quite a number of staffs who are ready to provide assistance and explanation regarding the products and the app.
The app will notify you once your items are ready for collection. The collection point is located just before the exit (it was a fun ending to my shopping experience haha). The robot will deliver your purchases that have been packed in a plastic bag. I wish I could see how my stuffs being sorted and packed into the bag though.

This is the F&B dining area where the food kiosks are located. I saw the popular Japanese pillow pancake, pasta, steak, and even milkshakes. Similar to the shopping process, you just need to place your order from the app and wait for the notification for collection. No need to queue at all!
Overall, it was a great first experience at Habitat and it definitely would not be the last. Despite the somewhat secluded location, it is worth visiting if you are curious of cashless supermarket concept. The whole place is nicely decorated and it gives a cool vibe that really suits the youngsters and youngsters at heart. The price range is on the higher end but I think it is worth the quality and convenience you get. On my next visit, I would like to try the gourmet food for sure!
