[Outlet Closed] Bakso Boedjangan, Surabaya

Who doesn't like bakso (meatball)? Especially if you are Indonesian who eats meat, I'm pretty sure that you grow up loving bakso. Here I'm writing about a place to eat bakso that has been a hit in Surabaya recently. This place is called Bakso Boedjangan. Boedjangan (or bujangan) literally means 'single male' in Indonesian. As the name implies that Boedjangan, maybe this place targets girls as its customers haha.

Es Teh Manis - IDR7,200
Just like in warung, bakso is best paired with iced tea hehe.

Es Teh Tarik - IDR11,000
If you prefer something milky, get this teh tarik. The sweetness and milkiness was just right here.

Pangsit Goreng Isi Paket - IDR25,000
I like to have my bakso with some 'gorengan'. The fried wonton was a bit oily but the filling was dense and savory.

Bakso Super Wagyu Cincang - IDR30,250
The meatball soup contains noodles, rice vermicelli and vegetable. Not sure if the meatball was really made from wagyu meat (or maybe they just use the word 'wagyu' as a gimmick, but it was definitely tender and juicy. The soup was flavorful without heavy MSG taste.

Mie Instan Bakso Wagyu Cincang - IDR33,000
It is similar to normal bakso wagyu with soup but they put instant noodle in it.

Nasi Bakso Saos Mentega - IDR26,800
The butter sauce tasted like the one used for 'ayam goreng mentega'. But in general, I still think this dish is too plain. I would rather stick to normal bakso kuah instead of having meatball with white rice.

Overall, Bakso Boedjangan is a nice place to get a bowl of fusion bakso. The queue at the cashier can get pretty long at times but the food comes relatively quickly. There is also free wi-fi and I spotted some youngsters did their schoolwork here haha.
