[Closed] Kalimilk, Yogyakarta
Milk cafe has been a trend in Jogja nowadays. People like to relax and get a glass of fresh milk, be it hot or cold. In Jogja, you can find places that sell fresh milk in various flavor almost everywhere. Kalimilk, Milky Wae, Kolam Susu, you name it... And the most mind-blowing name I have come across this far is 'Nenenku Semok' (literally means 'my boobs are big and sexy', but 'boobs' also shares the same word with 'milk' in Indonesian language). These people are too creative, really...
During my Yogya trip, I made a visit to Kalimilk in Kaliurang. This visit was based on my relatives' recommendation, saying that Kalimilk was worth trying. Anyway, do you know that Kalimilk is actually the pioneer of the 'milk drinking' trend in Jogja?
Ice Kalimilk Vanilla - IDR12,000 (medium size)
The specialty menu here is none other than fresh milk in various flavor, such as vanilla, grape, jackfruit, mocca, and many others. You can have it hot or cold, and it comes in medium and gajah (elephant) size. Gajah size is equal to jumbo glass. Guess what, medium-sized glass was tall already, it was more than enough for each of us. I could not imagine how big gajah size would be. The vanilla flavor hit the right sweetness, which was not cloying at all.
Ice Kalimilk Green Tea - IDR13,000 (medium size)
To me, it tasted like green tea latte, except that it was milkier.
Ice Kalimilk Cookies - IDR13,000 (medium size)
This was my most favorite among all. The combination of milk and Oreo cookies was simply irresistible.
Hot Kalimilk Pure (medium size)
Different from the others, my grandma ordered hot milk. It was just as good as the cold one, I could feel the real freshness of it.
French Fries - IDR12,000
Besides milk, we also shared a plate of fries. The fries was crisply fried and lightly salted, although it was just frozen fries.
Roti Goreng Pisang Coklat - IDR8,000
This is basically banana battered with breadcrumbs, fried until golden brown and drizzled with chocolate condensed milk. For IDR8,000, I could say that it was quite big in portion.
I totally recommend this place for those visiting Jogja. Before you try another brands, make sure you try the pioneer first. Let's be a part of the 'milk drinking' trend!
