Djati Lounge, Malang

Looking for a relaxing place to escape from the lively city scene? Make your way to the city of Malang and unwind yourself at Djati Lounge. Djati Lounge is situated in The Araya, an upscale housing estate in Malang. The exact location is quite far from Araya's main gate (where Plaza Araya is located) and there does not seem to be adequate signboard, so you may need to arm yourself with GPS or Google Maps haha.

Djati Lounge offers an unbeatable day view of lush golf range and pool. It also looks serene and romantic at night!

The dining area here is pretty big. There are indoor and semi-outdoor areas on both first and second floors. My favorite part is the semi-outdoor area on the first floor - the sofas are just too comfy that I want to chill there all day haha.

Iced Strawberry Mint Tea - IDR30,000
Not sure if they freshly brewed the tea, but this drink was pleasant. The mint gave a cooling sensation and there was sourish flavor from the strawberry too.

Taro 'Tahwa' - IDR35,000
The taro frappe supposedly came with silky beancurd, but we were informed that the beancurd was out of stock so they changed it to grass jelly. The drink was milky and the taro taste was distinctive.

Choco Marshmallow - IDR35,000
It was just the usual iced chocolate with two marshmallows on top. The chocolate flavor was velvety and not too bitter, I like it.

Cheese Fritter - IDR35,000
It was a good snack to munch. The fritters were stuffed with piping hot cheese that melted as I tore it in two.

Crispy Mushroom - IDR25,000
It was okay, but it would be better if the fried mushroom was accompanied with mayonnaise instead of 'petis', although it might be purposely done to bring out a true Indonesian taste. The batter was a bit too thick for me though.

Sitting Scallop  IDR60,000
The scallop sits on a small piece of bread, finished with BBQ sauce garnish. I don't like scallop so I cannot comment on this haha. Anyway, thumbs up for the good-looking presentation.

Cheese Sticks - IDR30,000
The concept of this dish is similar to churros, with puff pastry sticks substituting the doughnuts. Coming with chocolate dipping sauce, it turned out pedestrian to me.

Overall, I had a pleasant time with my family here - the food, service, and atmosphere were all good. Once you are seated here, you would not want to leave. The price range is a bit on the steep side for Malang standard, but trust me, it is worth every Rupiah. The place is family-friendly - they have a playroom to keep your kids occupied. Additionally, if you come from outside Malang, there is Djoglo Luxury Bungalow available for rent, which is just beside Djati Lounge.
