Seven Sky, Yogyakarta

Jogja is getting more and more hipster day by day! One cool place I would recommend to check out is Seven Sky. Located on the rooftop of Lippo Plaza, Seven Sky combines the concept of dining and entertainment, which pretty much explains its tagline: "the first tourism destination on the rooftop". It offers a diverse selection of food, ranging from local favorites to international cuisines. All food are kept affordable - it is one factor that attracts youngsters to come. From the parking lot or the mall itself, you can take the lift to Level P6 and then go up to the rooftop using the staircase. No worries, there is no admission fee to enter the venue.

Seven Sky looks very vibrant with colorful container food stalls and photo-spots scattered around. It is definitely a sight you don't get to see at your average food court. There is also a stage with live performances featuring local talents. In the midst of enjoying your food, you can go around to enjoy the atmosphere (and to take pics, of course). I saw a number of people skateboarding too. Yes, you are allowed to play skateboard here!

From Seven Sky, we can see the sights of Jogja city from the height. You can even spot airplanes passing at close range since Lippo Plaza is located not far from Adisutjipto Airport. If you look towards the north, you can also spot the majestic Mt. Merapi. When the night falls, you can enjoy the flickering lights of the city. Do take note that all these can be enjoyed if the weather is clear ya.

Iced Thai Tea - IDR12,000
Surprisingly, there are so many outlets selling Thai tea here lol. My pick went to Chatucha stall as it looked the most crowded. The serving was big for the price, but it could be more "gao".

Curry Rice + Egg - IDR15,000
The curry tasted like factory-made curry sauce and there was actually no meat here. Yeap, there were only rice, curry sauce, potatoes and fried egg. Cannot complain since it's only IDR15,000 (told ya before, the food here is cheap so don't expect much).

Aglio Olio Pasta - IDR13,000
It tasted nothing like aglio olio haha. It's more like spaghetti cooked in tomato sauce with a few slices of smoked beef.

Assorted Shao Kao
We had broccoli, mushrooms, chicken skin, wonton and beef wrapped enoki skewers. All of the items were marinated well. The best part of this dish was the chicken skin, which was wonderfully charred, chewy and flavorful.

All in all, Seven Sky is one of the hottest food places in Jogja you simply cannot miss. Since the place is packed most of the time, you might want to go early to 'chope' a seat and to avoid the long queues for food.
