Artap Cafe & Art Gallery, Surabaya

Artap Cafe & Art Gallery is a relatively new hang out place in the east, and it is known in social media for having green, Bandung-like vibes in the middle of the city. Artap is located on the second floor of Pawon Rempah restaurant. Although both venues share the same premise, you cannot order food from Pawon Rempah because they are apparently under two different managements.

I would suggest you to sit in their semi alfresco area. It can be quite hot and humid there, but don't let this fact bother you as you will be taken aback by how amazing this place looks. The space is decorated with plants in every corner and it receives plenty of natural light, perfect for your IG feed.

At night, this spot functions as a stage for live music

It was refreshing but I could barely detect the lychee flavor.

Ice Latte - IDR30,000
I regretted ordering this. It was not nice and the coffee was not strong enough.

Artap Gyudon - IDR55,000

They were still on trial menu and therefore, there were only a few choices of food. Among those few menus, what attracted me was the gyudon. It turned out surprisingly delicious. It has generous thinly-sliced beef sauteed in yummy Japanese seasoning. It would be better if the egg was not served well-done, so the yolk would ooze out and blend with the beef. Nonetheless, I polished off this bowl quickly.

Thai Style Fish - IDR50,000

My friend was satisfied with her dish, which was rich and tasty with a hint of tomato, mango and pineapple.

Overall, I love the garden-ish look of this place. The food was satisfying but they could definitely improve on their drinks. It is a pleasant place to hang out and chill in the evening when the weather is not too hot and humid.
