Random Eats: January - March 2018

Item: Cafe Latte - $6.50
Location: CoffeeSmith (Orchard Central, Singapore)
CoffeeSmith is a popular Korean franchise that often appears in several K-dramas such as It's Okay That's Love and Sweet Stranger & Me. What makes this coffee shop special is that it opens 24 hours on weekends. I had a cup of hot latte which possessed good strength and creaminess that was just right for my liking. The price for a the smallest cup of coffee here is quite hefty, but the cup size is larger than other coffee shops so I guess that makes up for the price.

Item: Chicken Chop with Fries - $7.50
Location: Food Junction (Nex, Singapore)
I like the chicken chop, which was juicy and tender. However, I think the black pepper sauce was overly salty.

Item: Green Tea Cannoli - IDR18,000
Location: Maison Feerie (Tunjungan Plaza 6, Surabaya)
The cannoli ice cream series comes in two variants: hazelnut and green tea. I went for the latter. The green tea soft-serve itself was so good! It was soft and not overly sweet. It is topped with green tea powder and flax seeds for extra crunch. The cannoli was flaky, buttery and sugary, but it could get a bit messy to eat as the flakes would crumble when bitten.

Item: 6 Wings ala Carte + 2 Iced Teas - IDR30,000
Location: Jank Jank Wings (Jl. Dharmawangsa, Surabaya)
I chose to have the wings with Japanese curry and Hickory BBQ flavors. The wings tasted good, but they kinda lost their crispiness due to the sauce being smothered on the skin. The Hickory BBQ sauce was a tad too sweet while the curry sauce was rather bland.

Item: Dori Telur Asin - IDR29,000
Location: Mr. Plate (ITC Mega Grosir, Surabaya)
Although the dory fish was too small, the meat was soft. The fish would be tasteless without the presence of salted egg sauce. The salted egg sauce was too creamy and could do better with stronger salted egg flavor.

Item: Original Octopus Takoyaki - IDR28,000
Location: Takoyaqta (bazaar in Surabaya)
The takoyaki was made upon order and served piping hot. The octopus piece inside was crispy and the takoyaki itself was grilled well. They were also generous with the bonito flakes sprinkled on top of those takoyaki balls.

Item: Foundry Salted Egg Potato Chips - IDR35,000
Origin: Indonesia
Compared to Ei Salted Egg, Foundry is more oily and it contains less chips inside, which was rather disappointing. On the good side, Foundry has more curry leaves bits scattered among the chips.
