[Closed] Yoogane 유가네, Singapore

Yoogane is a popular restaurant from Korea that specializes in dakgalbi (spicy pan-fried chicken). Aside from dakgalbi, Yoogane also offers other dishes like budae jjigae, naengmyeon, and jeongol. The ambiance is modern and bright with shades of red and white. The place suits best for group dining as it is equipped with large tables with cooking stove in the middle.

One of the highlights at Yoogane is the free-flow banchan (side dish) bar, with items like kimchi, pickled radish and lettuce. I enjoyed eating the kimchi before the main course. It was crunchy, sour, and not too spicy - it cleansed my palate with its freshness.

Army Stew - $12.90 (student price)
I love places that also offer student price on the weekend! If you look student enough like me, you can enjoy Yoogane's army stew (or known as 'budae jjigae') at only $12.90++ per person with minimum of 2 people dining in. The stew could feed up to 4 people. It has a ring of cheese and egg around the pot, whereas the stew contains instant noodles, baked beans, enoki and shiitake mushrooms, cheese meatballs, tteokbokki, tofu, chicken meat, sausage, chicken ham, crabstick, veggies and a slice of cheese. And you know what? The toppings are unlimited which means you can keep adding on toppings throughout your dining session!

The staff will pour some soup (you can choose between non-spicy and spicy soup base) onto the pot. Let it boil and when the soup rises, stir the ingredients together and tadah, you can now enjoy your army stew. I love dipping the ingredients into the cheesy egg ring, which tasted like gyeran jjim (steamed egg). It is a mix of mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and egg. It was gooey but on certain parts it got watery. The overall taste was authentic, very hearty and warming.

The set comes with a choice of drink, which I chose Korean barley tea

The deal also comes with free dessert of the day yay! I got a very small scoop of chocolate ripple ice cream, which tasted just alright to close the meal.

For only $12.90++ per pax, I think this deal is very worth getting given the wide variety of ingredients included, not forgetting that they are free-flow. But keep in mind that there is a wastage charge of $5 per 100 grams, so eat responsibly! Oh and there is a time limit of 90 minutes, but I don't think they count it haha. Even if there is no promotion here, the prices  are still considered affordable as the items are mostly for sharing. Overall, it is a nice place to eat together with friends or family. Service was not the friendliest one but it was quite efficient with staffs checking around the place. I will be back to try their dakgalbi next time.
