[Re-branded] Timoer Kopi, Surabaya

Hello people! Recently, I visited a relatively new coffee shop called Timoer Kopi. As the name implies, Timoer Kopi is located in East Surabaya, at Este Square MERR to be precise. The place is rather obscurely located in block, which means it is not visible from the main road - from Este Square main gate, you have to walk in a few meters towards block D at the back, then turn left and you will see Timoer Kopi in the corner.

The place is not too big, but the interior is artsy yet unique. Instagrammers who love to take aesthetic pics will definitely be spoiled here. By the way, the service here is largely self-service - order and payment are to be done at the counter, and the staff will later serve orders to your table.

Flat White - IDR35,000

Loving the tidy latte art! The flat white was a bit too acid to me, and there was no accompaniment of sugar. If you prefer to have lighter coffee, try requesting the barista for it, or simply request for sugar on the side.

Cold White - IDR30,000

Sorry to say, but to me it tasted like iced coffee with sweet condensed milk in a bad way.

Es Green Tea Latte - IDR30,000

It was the best drink that day. The matcha flavor was bold but not cloying, and the drink had just right consistency. I will definitely come back for this.

Potato Chips with Salsa - IDR25,000

I was kinda surprised that they actually put packet potato chips with salsa dip in the middle. But it was still okay la for snack. The salsa dip was fresh with distinct herb flavor, albeit slightly too sour.

Nasi Gila - IDR36,000

This nasi gila (lit. crazy rice) consists of rice (duh), stir-fried beef sausages, meatballs, paprika and onion, plus shrimp crackers. The marination is similar to sweet and sour sauce. Taste wise, it was decent and the portion was quite big. Oh, this dish took almost 30 minutes of preparation time and with such amount of time, I'm not sure if it is actually worth the wait.

Overall, Timoer Kopi is a good alternative hang-out place in eastern MERR. I mean who does not like affordable food, cozy space and high-speed wi-fi? Not to mention you will get plenty of aesthetic shots here, ready to bless your Instagram feed. Leggo!
