Breakfast Thieves, Kuala Lumpur

Coming all the way from Melbourne, Breakfast Thieves is an Aussie-style cafe in APW Bangsar, a printing factory in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. From the main entrance of APW, you will immediately see Breakfast Thieves on your right. Here, you can expect to find Aussie brunch fares with a touch of Asia. This cafe has indoor and open-air spaces, both of which are relaxing for gathering or even me-time.

During our recent trip to KL, my mom and I managed to visit Breakfast Thieves on a Saturday. According to what I read online, Breakast Thieves always has long queue on weekend due to its popularity. Fortunately, the crowd was still manageable when we came at 9.10am and we secured indoor seats without queueing (I made the right choice of picking indoor seat coz it started to pour not long after).

"Kampung Eggs Your Way" on Buttered Toast - RM14
Simplicity is a virtue. Mom did not fancy complicated dish and she opted for well-done overeasy on a buttered toast. She felt it was too bland and asked for tomato sauce on the side haha. She also complained that the sourdough toast was too tough (but after all, it was sourdough) and ended up copying my way of eating: dipping it into baked eggs lol.

The Legend - RM32
When I asked for recommendations, the staff's pick went to 'The Legend', which was baked eggs with spicy beef chorizo meatballs, button mushroom, sweet corn and feta cheese with a side of herbed garlic bread. The dish was served in a piping hot pan. Although it was written 'spicy' on the menu, it was not spicy in my opinion. I love dipping the garlic toast into the baked eggs. The meatballs were juicy, tasty and generous. Unfortunately the whole dish was too watery and it needed more kick in the seasoning. Nevertheless, the serving was truly hearty and it kept me full until noon.

Overall, Breakfast Thieves is a must-visit cafe in Kuala Lumpur and it is a great place to meet with your friends for brunch. It might take quite long to reach APW Bangsar by Grab (if you drive, parking might be a nuisance) but it will worth every minute of your journey. I would be happy to return here the next time I visit KL. And be sure to get there earlier or else you will have to queue to get a seat.

Mandatory pose on this 'Instagram staircase'. It is located just next to Breakfast Thieves - you can pose there without having to eat at the cafe (nobody will judge you haha).
