Random Eats: July - September 2018

Item: Strawberry Smoothies - IDR33,000
Location: Libreria Eatery (Jl. Ngagel Jaya, Surabaya)
It could be sweeter and creamier. Nonetheless, it was so refreshing to drink in a hot day.

Item: Kimchi Jjigae - IDR40,909
Location: Kimchi-Go (Galaxy Mall, Surabaya)
This soup contains fresh kimchi, beef slices and tofu. The broth was thick, mildly spicy with lingering gochujang and kimchi tastes. Best to eat on a rainy day!

Item: Cheese Dak Gang Jeong - IDR50,000
Location: Kimchi-Go (Galaxy Mall, Surabaya)
The chicken pieces were fried to crispy golden brown and topped with stretchy melted cheese. I need more cheese please!

Item: Pangsit Mie Campur - IDR25,000
Location: Pangsit Mie Ujung Pandang (Jl. Raya Nginden, Surabaya)
I love to eat Mie Ujung Pandang when I crave for something porky. The pork char siew was sweet, savoury and melt-in-the-mouth. The noodle used is the 'karet' (rubbery) type, which is thick, curly and chewy.

Item: Mee Sua Soup with Pork Ribs - IDR88,000
Location: Old Street Bak Kut Teh (Tunjungan Plaza 4, Surabaya)
Coming all the way from Singapore, this is a place to go if you love bak kut teh or pork ribs soup. The pork ribs was tender and had a good balance between fat and meat. The soup was not quite flavorful too.

Item: Es Kepal Milo - IDR15,000 (small size)
Location: Es Kepal Milo Indonesia (Plaza Surabaya, Surabaya)
As this is the pioneer of es kepal in Surabaya, it is mandatory to try out the es kepal here. I had the small-sized es kepal Milo, whereby shaved ice is firmed and topped with thick Milo spread, sprinkles and nut or Oreo crumbs. Yup, it was Milo spread, not sauce. They spread it like the way you would spread butter on a toast. The spread had an enjoyable crunchy sensation from the Milo powder, but I felt it was too 'jelat', as if I was eating chocolate spread.

Item: Indomie Cup (Imported Version)
Origin: Indonesia
How come we don't have this in Indo?! Anyway, it tasted similar to Pop Mie Ayam Bawang (not surprised coz Indomie and Pop Mie are produced by the same company, Indofood). The noodle had a good bite and the chicken-based broth was tasty.

Item: Chicken Rendang Set - RM11.90
Location: Carrot Express Mixed Rice (Sunway Geo Avenue, Kuala Lumpur)
I only tried a bit of the chicken rendang. It was flavorful with strong hint of rendang spice.

Item: Petit Llao + Cookie Sauce
Location: Llaollao (Pavilion KL, Kuala Lumpur)
Petitllao is recommended for those who are reluctant to share their yogurt with anyone (this is so me lol). The yogurt was still as good as ever, drizzled with my all-time favorite cookie sauce. Such a perfection in a cup.

Item: Greek Yogurt with Granola & Blueberry - RM10.10
Location: Starbucks (KLIA, Kuala Lumpur)
The combination of blueberries, granola and yogurt sounds very healthy, doesn't it? However, I personally find Starbucks' granola a bit too sweet for my palate. The yogurt was too runny also.

Item: Snackers A - RM8.40
Location: KFC (Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur)
The Snackers A consists of 1 chicken, original fries and cheese wedges. It is value for money and it makes a good tummy-filler.

Item: Roast Beef Wrap - RM12.20
Location: Subway (Low Yat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur)
Recently, I often got wraps from Subway instead of normal bread because sometimes bread was too much for me. The subs here are priced reasonably and you know the best part? I always feel healthy after eating Subway haha.
