Random Eats: October - December 2014

Item: Frozen Yogurt with Marshmallow - HKD 38
Location: Jessie's Snack Roundup (Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong)
The yogurt base was creamy and milky with a good level of tartness. It is a tad pricey for a cup of froyo with tiny marshmallow bits, but after all it is Disneyland snack so I cannot complain.

Item: Signature Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken - $8.90
Location: Old Town White Coffee (Cineleisure Orchard, Singapore)
It consists of rice, sunny side up egg, ikan bilis, ground nuts, crackers, fried chicken wings and of course, my favorite sambal belachan. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed because the portion could not satisfy my hungry tummy. Moreover, the sambal was too spicy - probably the spiciest sambal I had ever found on my nasi lemak. I would rather go to Ananas and grab a packet of nasi lemak for just $2.20.

Item: Beef Bibimbap - $5.50
Location: Kopitiam (VivoCity, Singapore)
It was my first time having Korean food in a food court. The dish was served in a hot stone bowl, but sadly the ingredients inside were rather cold already. The gochujang sauce given was very little, so I could not stir it well. Nevertheless, they were pretty generous with the meat so the entire meal was quite filling. The meat was very tender and flavorful as well.

Item: Eggs & Sausage Platter
Location: Burger King (Novena Square, Singapore)
It was my first time trying BK's breakfast menu. This platter consists of turkey sausage, croissan'wich, scrambled eggs, hash browns and grilled tomato. It was quite fulfilling and tasted okay.

Item: Honey Comb - $5.90
Location: Honey Creme (313@Somerset, Singapore)
The soft serve is served with chewy honey comb block. It was not my cup of tea. The honey comb was rather hard and sticky.

Item: Organic Cotton Candy - $5.50
Location: Honey Creme (313@Somerset, Singapore)
I was fascinated by the height of the cotton candy. I'm not really sure what is the best way to enjoy ice cream with cotton candy, but what I did was finishing the cotton candy first then ate the ice cream on its own haha.

Item: Ice Cream with Wafer / Bread - $1.20
Location: Singapore
Lemme introduce you to a simple form of happiness in Singapore: Uncle Ice Cream! Whether it is in the heartland or in touristy areas like Orchard Road or Bugis, you can find elderly uncles selling ice cream with their cart. You can have your ice cream 'kiapped' between wafer or bread, but I prefer bread. The ice cream was standard but it is simply pleasing. Ah, it is something I always miss back in Indo!

Item: Ice Jelly Perfect Match - $4.30
Location: Yammy Paradise (51@AMK, Singapore)
The menu is written in Chinese, so I left it to my Singaporean friends to decide what to get haha. We had this dessert consisting of black sesame, taro, matcha and sweet potato balls with ice jelly, popping pearls and lime ice cream. It was indeed a perfect match! The sourness of the lime ice cream complemented the chewy balls and the jelly. The popping pearls were unique as well, they burst out as they entered my mouth. Above all, I really adore their matcha balls! Wish they could put more of it haha.

Item: Taiwan Pearl Milk Tea - $2.80 (medium size)
Location: Orange Tea (AMK Hub, Singapore)
It was the first time I tried Orange Tea, and it was also the first Orange Tea outlet I found in Singapore.  The pearls were  springy. The milk tea was fragrant and not too sweet. It was a refreshing drink overall.

Item: Meiji Strawberry Yoghurt - $1
Origin: Singapore
The yogurt was delicious, not too sour but not too sweet either. It also has real strawberry bits inside the yogurt.

Item: MEDZS Signature Rainbow Cake - $6.90
Location: MEDZS (Orchard Central, Singapore)
It is undeniable that many people have been raving about MEDZS' rainbow cake. Ladyironchef even put this on Singapore's Top 8 Rainbow Cakes That You Must Try. Indeed, no regret ordering this! Served on a stone board, the cake looks tidy and visually pleasant. On top, there are a slice of strawberry, two tiny chocolate sticks, and dollop of whipped cream, also accompanied by salted caramel and vanilla cream garnish. The cake was decent, it was moist with right amount of cream in between the layers.

Item: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Thick & Creamy - $2.60
Origin: USA
Kraft is one of my favorite instant mac & cheese brands. It is a perfect rainy day treat with all its savory and cheesy flavors.

Item: PaNas Spesial - IDR34,091
Location: McDonald's (Simpang Dewa Ruci, Bali)
The scrambled egg was too dry for my liking. The chicken was good as usual.

Item: Red Velvet - IDR60,000
Location: Ron's Laboratory (Galaxy Mall, Surabaya)
Ron's Laboratory is the pioneer of liquid nitrogen ice cream in Surabaya. FYI, what differentiates liquid nitrogen ice cream with normal ice cream is that liquid nitrogen makes smoother texture, as a result of extremely low temperature that prevents ice crystals to be formed. This red velvet gelato is made of medium roast chocolate, which results in reddish color. It is served with an injection filled with cream cheese, so unique ya! The gelato was soft and not too sweet, and when you injected the cream cheese upon it, there was a hint of saltiness. Yum! Overall, IDR 60,000 for a cup of gelato is perhaps a bit pricey, but I guess you pay for the experience.

Item: Thai Pearl Milk Tea - IDR31,000
Location: Quickly (Bonnet, Surabaya)
The Thai tea was adequately sweet, but there could be more pearl inside haha.

Item: Boneless Chicken - IDR30,000
Location: Doner Kebab (Grand City, Surabaya)
Doner Kebab's specialty menu is kebab, but I ordered their chicken instead lol. The chicken was quite big. It was tender, juicy, and crispy outside. Nothing to complain here hehe.
