Depot Mie Sawahan, Malang

If you ask anyone from Malang (or even Surabaya) where is the best place to eat pangsit mie (wanton noodle), most of them would probably answer 'Depor Mie Sawahan'. This humble eatery was established in 1966 and still serving its legendary pangsit mie up until now.

Es Teh Tawar - IDR6,000

No need to comment on this plain iced tea right haha.

Es Sirup - IDR10,000

The syrup tasted unique (my mom said that is how syrup tastes like in colonial era lol). Different from the one I usually had (which was pure sweet), there was a hint of citrus soda in it.

Pangsit Mie - IDR27,500

The must-order here is none other than the pangsit mie. It came with minced chicken meat, lettuce, and 2 wantons. The noodle tasted so flavorful on its own without additional condiments. The wanton was juicy and the skin did not taste too floury.

Pangsit Mie Istimewa - IDR33,000

This is the 'special' version of pangsit mie that comes with sauteed mushrooms.

Pangsit Goreng - IDR40,000

We all loved their wanton, so we ordered extra fried wanton which came with a small bowl of sweet and sour sauce. The wanton skin was crispy and they were quite generous with the filling! We gobbled all them up in no time.

I totally recommend this place to anyone looking for good pangsit mie in Malang. Besides pangsit mie, they also serve other kinds of Chinese food like fried rice, bee hoon and cap cay, but do take not the food here is non-halal.
