Is it possible to have lunch or dinner under $10 in Orchard? Yes, it is! Make your way to Saizeriya at Orchard Gateway. This Japanese chain restaurant is known for their value-for-money Italian meal, making it popular among families and youngsters. For as low as $3.90, you can get a wide range of food from salad, pizza, pasta and even steak. Desserts like ice cream and tiramisu are also available, costing no more than $5.
Salad Drink Bar Set - $3.90
There is a free-flow drink station with a wide variety of drink such as soft drink, lemon tea, coffee, tea, and of course plain water. However, no sharing of drink is allowed (it is easy to break this rule though, but don't listen to me haha). For $3.90, I think it is quite worth it - you can drink until you feel bloated. Meanwhile, the serving of salad is limited to one time only. Strangely enough, I like their salad. The greens were fresh and matched well with the creamy dressing.
Chicken Gratin - $4.90
The cheese in this gratin was generous but there was a lack of chicken meat. After all, it is affordably priced so I cannot complain much.
Chicken Doria - $4.90
Being one of Saizeriya's best-selling items, this doria had exactly the same taste as gratin but they substituted pasta with rice. Cheese lovers would definitely approve it.
Carbonara - $5.90
It came with generous slices of pork bacon. It was indeed a filling meal, but they could have put more sauce on it.
Gennovese - $5.90
The pesto taste was not strong enough for my tastebud. However, they were once again generous with the bacon.
Cheese Chicken - $6.90
From the steak selection, I opted for the cheese chicken steak. Isn't it rare to find chicken steak at such price in the shopping mall? The portion was sufficient for my hungry tummy. The chicken was juicy and good to pair with the sauce.
Overall, Saizeriya serves pretty good Italian food at unbeatable low price - don't miss this place for a pocket-friendly meal in Orchard area. The service was prompt enough and there is a button on every table to catch the staffs' attention. Oh and lemme give you one more good news - there are no GST and service charge here! Just a kind reminder though, the place does fill up quickly during peak hours, so you better head down earlier for shorter queue.
