Sukiya Gyudon, Jakarta

Sukiya is a restaurant chain from Japan. It shares similar concept with Yoshinoya, where gyudon (beef bowl) is its specialty item. Here, we also have to queue and order at the counter, but the food will be served to your table.

Chicken Teriyaki Bowl Kangkung Set  - IDR41,817 (regular size)
You can top up IDR14,545 to your ala carte menu to get the Kangkung Set. The set menu included drink, a plate of sauteed kangkung (watercress) and a bowl of miso soup. The veggie tasted average, I did not really like kangkung though. The soup had some diced tofu inside, tasted so warming. The chicken teriyaki was well-executed and the portion was filling enough. Comfort food at best.

Tokyo Traditional Chicken Katsu Bowl - IDR39,090 (regular size)
Wah, it actually looked so different from the menu. The chicken did not look like chicken katsu at all lol. It tasted good anyway, the soft egg gave a creamy touch to the dish.

Oyako-Don - IDR32,727 (regular size)
I like this one also, the chicken was tender and flavorful.

Gyudon Beef Croquette Set - IDR49,090 (regular size)
The beef slices were nicely-seasoned, juicy and tender. The beef croquette was crunchy outside and mushy inside, no complain.

Overall, I prefer Sukiya to Yoshinoya as Sukiya tastes more authentic (Yoshinoya's taste has certainly been adjusted to Indonesians' preference). Hope they could expand to Surabaya soon *praying hard*!

Seaview from Baywalk Mall. So beautiful! Baywalk is by far the mall with the best view for me.
