Arnold's Fried Chicken, Singapore
Arnold's is a local Halal fried chicken outlet tucked away at a corner of City Plaza. It was my first time coming to City Plaza (there is really nothing to see here unless you have an online shop and want to buy wholesale clothes) and I was surprised to find out that Arnold's location was kinda secluded. Despite the location, this place was really crowded during dinner time and there was a long queue outside for takeaway. Basically, we need to order and pay before proceeding to get a seat, and then we will be given a buzzer to collect our order later on. This explains why Arnold's is not 100% fast food joint.
2 Person Combo Meal - $24.80
We got this 2 person combo meal to share as we thought it would be more value for money and more filling too. This combo consists of 5 pieces of crispy fried chicken served with potato fries, coleslaw, 2 buns and 2 regular soft drinks. For the drink, I chose Pepsi and upsized it for 20 cents, while my friend had large Sjora for additional 90 cents. Having 5 pieces of chicken shared between 2 girls was actually pretty filling. What differentiates Arnold's from other fried chicken joints is that Arnold's use fresh farm chicken, resulting in better quality fried chicken. Coated with flavorful batter, the chicken had crispy skin and succulent meat. It surprisingly tasted fresher than KFC's chicken!
The fries was pretty decent as well. It was crispy and was not too oily. The coleslaw was also fresh and tasted nice, I enjoyed eating it together with the soft, mildly-sweet buns.
Overall, I enjoyed eating at this old skool chicken joint. Their fried chicken tastes fingerlickin' good, albeit not the cheapest one among the other fast food joints. It's a refreshing change when you get sick of KFC or Popeye's. I wish it is located near my house so that I can drop by anytime. I hope Arnold's could expand their business by opening more outlets throughout Singapore.
