Moogs Coffee & Friends, Surabaya

Situated in the neighborhood area of Rungkut, one would never expect a hipster joint to make its home here. Moogs Coffee & Friends is a newly-revamped cafe (yes, it is actually a relocated cafe) that has already been making waves in TikTok and IG for its British-themed interior.

The entire restaurant is renovated with wooden floor and furniture, giving the typical British underground ambiance. Food and drink were promptly served within a few minutes of ordering.

The upper room

Milky Affogato - IDR30,000

Did not try this as it was my friend's, but it looked like coffee blended drink.

Ice Matcha Latte - IDR30,000

I would describe this as semi-DIY drink, as you need to stir the milk and matcha syrup thoroughly beforehand. They also added something like a blob of matcha spread(?) on top. At the end, this drink became diluted no matter how thorough I stirred it haha.

Pasta Aglio Olio - IDR37,500

The dish was alright but it could be better. The pasta was slightly overcooked and the chicken strips were dry. Drawbacks aside, this dish was quite reasonably priced for its portion.

Churros with Chocolemon Sauce - IDR28,500

The churros were sprinkled with dusted sugar. They were crispy on the outside and soft inside, but I think they needed just a few more minutes of frying. The so called 'chocolemon sauce' was merely chocolate sauce with no lemony taste.

For its price, I felt that the two dishes I tried could fare better in terms of quality. Nevertheless, Moogs is a pretty chill place to hang out and relax with your friends over a cuppa, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
