Bakmi Ayam Alok, Tangerang

If you ask anyone in Jakarta or Tangerang for mie ayam recommendation, there is a fair chance that Bakmi Ayam Alok will be on their list. Even though it looks like every other noodle shop, it continuously attracts endless stream of customers during lunch and dinner time. Recently, I visited its branch at Summarecon Digital Centre (next to Scientia Square Park) to have lunch with my relatives. I like how the menu is not complicated as Alok only sells the usual items we usually find at a standard bakmi stall, i.e. bakmi ayam and pangsit.

Pretty view in the area of SDC

Pangsit Kuah (1/2 porsi) - IDR25,000
The half portion came with 5 dumplings inside the soup. The dumplings were firm and plump, stuffed with juicy nuggets of pork and shrimp. The broth had clean and thin texture, but deeply flavored with umami-ness from the chicken stock.

Bakmi Ayam - IDR35,000
Their signature dish, bakmi ayam, was simple yet delectable. The bakmi karet (literally translates to 'rubbery noodle'), indeed had the rubbery feel but it was springy and easy to chew. Besides the noodles, I also enjoyed the chicken slices which were tender albeit slightly oily. Overall, it was pretty addictive and I cleared the bowl within a few minutes haha.

For those who want to try Bakmi Ayam Alok, they have many branches in Jakarta and Tangerang; however, I am not sure if all branches will have the same standard and quality. I have actually seen some reviews saying that they often showed inconsistency across all branches, but I guess you should take this information with a pinch of salt until you manage to try it yourself.
