De Mandailing Coffee N Eatery, Surabaya
De Mandailing is a cafe in Jemursari area. If you are a coffee geek, you must have noticed that the name 'Mandailing' actually implies the name of a coffee variety. I had been to De Mandailing several times, but this time I purposely came for the recently-launched dessert menu, mille crepes. I myself was a fan of mille crepe cake (since LadyM started trending in SG), so I got thrilled when I found a place selling it in Surabaya.
Cafe Latte - IDR25,000
I love how this cafe is established for a good cause. By purchasing their coffee, means you are donating 10% of the price to an orphanage to fund their education. Don't care if it is a scam or not, at least they are promoting the habit of giving to the needy. Anyway, the latte was pretty decent with floral notes toward the end.

Cookies N Cream Frappe with Whipped Cream - IDR32,000
The frappe was too sweet. Do not order frappe if you have ordered dessert already, otherwise you will get sugarush!

Japanese Vegetable Curry with Chicken Katsu - IDR32,000
This is one of De Mandailing's favorite dishes. The curry sauce had the right consistency (neither too thick nor too watery) and the chicken katsu was seasoned well. For just IDR32,000, it is obviously worth getting - cheap and delicious. This dish also has bigger serving called 'wow size', which serves up to 3 people. Wow!
Cookies n Cream Millecrepes - IDR50,000
The plating looks so pretty! The mille crepe cake, which stood beautifully in a pool of chocolate sauce and Oreo crumbs, had layers of fresh cream in between. The cream was light and layered in just the right amount so it did not overwhelm the taste and texture of the crepe itself.
Overall, the food and drink were satisfying, especially that divine mille crepe. My orders were served in a short period of time. Seating areas were also quite cozy, you could savor the food comfortably and have some photo opportunities for your Gram.
