The Social Space, Singapore

The Social Space is a multi-concept space that features cafe, workshop, retail, nail salon and florist. It is basically a social enterprise that tries to promote the concept of sustainable living, environmentally and socially.

Upon entering the premise, you will feel like you are in Bali, not the concrete jungle of Singapore. The use of rattan and wooden materials has successfully brought the Bali vibes here. To add more to it, you can enjoy varieties of smoothie bowl as if you are chilling in cafes in Seminyak or Canggu. In case you are not aware, there are quite a number of socially-conscious cafes in Bali that bring positive impacts to the environment and community.

TSS showcases high quality socially-responsible products that benefit the society and the earth. It also has this cool thing called 'refillery', where you can refill soaps, shampoo and other liquid cleansers. They provide recycled bottles and containers in case you forget to bring your own.

Cakes and bottled cold brew coffee are also available on display

Provision of free plain water is always appreciated hehe

Smoked Salmon + Cream Cheese + Mushrooms Toast - $12.50 (single slice)
The only food available here is selection of open-face toasts. It is a combination of smoked salmon and cream cheese on sourdough toast. Roasted mushroom was added as add-on. The portion is rather small though, so it will most likely suit those who are on diet.

Tough Nut - $10
To beat the heat, I ordered their smoothie bowl, which got me reminiscing my Bali days right that instant. The Tough Nut consists of peanut butter, banana, soy milk, and honey (if there is peanut butter-based smoothie bowl, I will undoubtedly get it haha). It had a lovely smooth texture with distinct banana taste followed by a hint of soy milk. To me, good smoothie bowl base should not be watered down. I had no worry having this smoothie bowl for breakfast as it was packed with nutrition too. The only thing I disliked was the granola that got too sticky in my teeth.

TSS is a cool place to eat and shop for those who fancy eco-friendly products. The food and drink menus are limited at present, but it is definitely enough if you merely seek a laid-back space to chill (or if you miss Bali haha). Alhough the location is a little obscure (you can walk there from Outram Park MRT but you will need Google Maps and decent navigation skill lol), it is a great way to escape the crowd, especially in the weekends.
