ONNI House, Jakarta
ONNI House is one of a few places in Jakarta that harmoniously integrate with nature. (Perhaps) inspired by Aoyama Flower Market in Japan, ONNI House tries to offer a garden dining experience to its visitors. Upon entering the premise, you will be greeted by arrangements of flower, terrarium and wooden knick-knack displays. They are all available for sale. You can custom-made your flower bouquet too, so it seems like an ideal place to buy gifts for your loved ones.
Every nook and cranny of ONNI House is so beautifully arranged that you would want to photograph them. Going further inside, you will find indoor and semi-outdoor dining areas. It was full house when we came at 4.30pm, and we were put in the waiting list for around 20 minutes before we got a table. Oh ya, ONNI House Jakarta serves ala carte menu, unlike ONNI Kitchen Surabaya that only has set menu (this explains why I have never been to the one in Surabaya haha).
Iced Lemon Tea - IDR23,000
It was refreshing and it came with liquid sugar so that you could adjust the sugar level.
Garlic Noodles with Dory & Sambal Matah - IDR49,000
The spaghetti was nicely cooked with good garlicky flavor and topped with a small piece of fried breaded dory. Unfortunately, this dish was too spicy for me, although the staff had informed me that it would not be that spicy.
Beef Bulgogi Rice - IDR58,000
The plating looks funny to me lol. The beef was tender and well-seasoned. The fried rice was just okay. There was a poached egg on top, which beautifully oozed out when we broke it with fork.
Overall, I would definitely recommend ONNI House if you are seeking a refreshing change from the usual coffee shop setting. Even though the cafe it looks like it is hidden inside a flower shop, it needs no introduction as it has become popular among locals. This charming spot is ideal for a romantic date or gathering with friends (do take note that it gets crowded most of the time).
