Teak Tree Eatery & Living, Salatiga

Hello readers, happy new year 2019! Hopefully this year will be a prosperous and fruitful year for all of us. Btw, how did you spend the year-end holiday? Me, I visited Salatiga, whereby I managed to visit a nice eatery in this city. Eits, if you think Salatiga does not have any Instagrammable place, you might want to rethink!

The eatery I was referring to is called Teak Tree Eatery & Living, located on the main road of Jl. Soekarno Hatta. No worry, the signage is big enough for you to see - small chance you will miss the place. As you park your vehicle in front, you might get confused why the place looks like a furniture shop. Yes, the eatery shares the same premise with Teak Tree Living that sells various wooden furniture.

After passing the showroom furniture, the indoor dining area will welcome you. As you can ser, the place looks very homey and spacious right? The dining area extends up to the second floor and there is also one seating on the 'terrace' of the house. They also have one-of-a-kind restroom that blends with nature. Curious? Just come here then haha.

There is a wide lawn with 2 swings and slides outside. Kids would certainly love to play and run around here. This atmosphere reminds me of the beautiful and lush cafes in Bandung.

Coffee Latte - IDR27,000
The coffee here tasted okay, although it was too milky for my preference.

Iced Taro Latte - IDR26,000
If taro latte is usually made sweet by default, here it tends to taste bitter, therefore liquid sugar is given separately. I think they added a little espresso in it. It is a refreshing change from the usual taro latte in other cafes which contains only milk and taro syrup.

Iced Coffee Mocha - IDR33,000
Not a fan of this. It had almost no trace of chocolate flavor.

Soup Ayam Jamur - IDR35,000
It is hard to resist a bowl of hot soup in rainy season like this. It tasted just like your average home-style chicken soup.

Nasi Goreng Kampung - IDR38,000
My grandma said the fried rice tasted strangely sweet. Guess she had made a wrong decision ordering local food in a cafe like this haha.

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio - IDR40,000
For such price, I think it is pricey as it contained no meat. Fortunately, it was quite tasty and garlicky enough.

Chicken Schnitzel - IDR45,000
The chicken meat was rather dry and under-seasoned. Perhaps having some gravy on the side would help elevate the flavor.

Fish & Chips - IDR50,000
The fish was tender and quite delicious, not sure what kind of fish was used. The coleslaw was (again) bland. By the way, I like the tartar sauce hehe.

Overall, the food at Teak Tree is average at best (good but not memorable). Thumbs up for the service and atmosphere - the whole place is family-friendly and great for your Instagram. Oh ya, the price is quite expensive for Salatiga standard (as it is a small city), so just to be safe, prepare a minimum of IDR 100k ++ per pax for a heavy meal with drink here.
