[Closed] Antler Cabin + [Closed] Itadakimasu + Fat Straw, Surabaya
Sick of chilling in typical cafes whose interior is bright and girly? Try something manly then: Antler Cabin. It is definitely not an airplane cabin, but cabin literally means 'a small wooden house, usually found in the woods or mountain resort'. Antler Cabin is situated on Raya Darmo Permai Street, just next to a pharmacy. I have to say that the place looks small (well cabin is meant to be small right haha). Going inside, the cafe is quite spacious. There is a mini attic with 3 tables - beware, it can get very hot in the attic. Here, you have to order at the counter first, make the payment, and the food will be served to your table. In the menu, they have several breakfast items, main courses, sides, sandwiches, and of course coffee.
The attic made me feel like being in a mountain cabin
Hot Mocha - IDR30,000
The drink was served with a tiny piece of biscuit. I could not really taste the chocolate in it. The caffeine kick was too strong for my liking also.
Black on the Rock - IDR34,000
This drink consists of sugar, lemon, ice and double espresso. My friend ordered this and she hated it so much. She told me it tasted like herbal drink lol.
Virginia Cheese French Fries - IDR35,000
The fries was good, but passable. Only the surface was smeared with so little amount of cheese sauce, the rest was just dry.
Antler's Big Breakfast - IDR58,000
My big breakfast consisted of sour dough, baked beans, roasted tomato, bacon, sausage, sauteed mushroom, and scrambled eggs. Everything on this plate was ordinary, nothing to shout out about. I must say it was a bit overpriced for the mediocrity.
Antler Cabin is suitable for those who want to find something different from typical Surabaya cafes. Since the 'cabin' is made of wooden materials, you will feel hot and stuffy inside although the aircon is on, so it may get a bit uncomfy to chill there for too long (after all it is an odd thing to have cabin in a tropic country like Indonesia haha). Expect to spend around IDR100,000 for a main course with drink, Regarding the service, there were only 2 staffs when we came but they were all friendly. The parking lot needs to be bigger (it can fit 2 cars only so I had to park on the roadside in parallel style) so it will not disrupt the traffic on the main road.

After chilling at Antler Cabin, we wanted to go to Fat Straw, but it was very full inside. Thus, we decided to sit at Itadakimasu while waiting for the queue to lessen. Itadakimasu is located just a few steps away from Fat Straw.
Mt. Fuji - IDR28,000
We only shared one dessert here. Thumbs up for the cute presentation! It was such a giant cotton candy; it literally covered the glass. The cotton candy was super sweet although it looked cute, and we got sick of eating it on its own lol. For the soft-serve, we chose to mix between taro and cheese, and it turned out to be a really unique combination. The cheese flavor tasted slightly salty and sweet, something I never had before.
Overall, Itadakimasu serves cute Japanese food and dessert with comfortable seating and cozy ambiance. I will be back to try their savory food.

After the wait at Itadakimasu, finally I got to try this famous bubble drink from Jakarta! Beside drink, there are also some sweet and savory snacks offered here.
Lychee Yogurt with Honey Boba - IDR26,000 (large size)
The cup looks so cute right? It perfectly suits its name, fat haha! The lychee yogurt tasted really refreshing, the boba had chewy texture with sweet honey on the outside. One large cup can easily be shared among 2 people unless you are really thirsty la haha.
The place is quite spacious and good for chit chat. The drink is reasonably priced too, the big size cup makes the price worth it. Recommended!
