The Assembly Ground + Nana's Green Tea, Singapore

The Assembly Ground is an industrial-themed cafe at The Cathay that is decorated with vintage bicycles. Right beside it stands The Assembly Store, a retail store from the same company. I had been walking past this cafe quite a few times and its warm yet cozy ambiance always attracted me from outside. However, it was only yesterday that I got the chance to dine there with my friend. The menu of here is simple – the usual breakfast fare, pasta, burger, coffee and some cakes on display.

Iced Lemon Tea - $5
For $5, I thought it was not worth getting since I could not really taste the lemon. What a pity.

Assembly Truffle Fries - $14
The straight-cut fries was served piping hot. The truffle smell was aromatic and had a lot of grated parmesan on it. The truffle oil was spread evenly as well. The portion was apparently too much for two girls, so we requested the staff to pack the leftover. Although it was not crispy anymore when I ate it at home, the truffle flavor was still there.

Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon - $15
The smoked salmon was fresh and the scrambled eggs had good texture. It was a decent dish in general.

Eggs Benji - $16
What a fancy name to eggs benedict! Just as I sliced down the poached eggs, the egg yolk oozed out and blended well with the hollandaise sauce. The English muffin was a bit too hard to slice but it tasted nice.

We had a joyous brunch session here. This place gave a laid-back atmosphere and the food was not bad after all. Compared to other common cafes in Singapore, this cafe is equipped with ample space between seats, making it a great catch-up point. It is worth a try if you happen to be around the area.

After our brunch at The Assembly Ground, we walked to Plaza Singapura to find some dessert. We were in the mood for matcha, so we chose Nana's Green Tea as our second destination. The place is open-space and there are some hanging wooden partitions between every table which look cool to me because it gives privacy to patrons.

Cold Matcha Cream Latte - $7
Nothing goes wrong with the combination of fragrant matcha and the creaminess of the whipped cream. This was hands down one of the best matcha drinks I had ever tasted.

Matcha Nama Chocolate Parfait - $13.80
This parfait consists of kanten jelly, matcha syrup, corn flakes, matcha ice cream, matcha chocolate ganache, red bean paste, whipped cream and topped with vanilla soft-serve. This dessert would be da bomb for matcha lovers! It is kinda pricey for $13.80, but the richness of matcha ice cream, the melt-in-your-mouth matcha nama chocolate (I guess it was ROYCE') and the sweetness of red bean created an ultimate bliss.

As a matcha addict, I love every single bit of what I had at Nana's Green Tea. The price is rather on the steep side, but you really get what you pay for.
