Labuda Kopi + Taketama, Sidoarjo

Another day of scrolling through Instagram means another new foodie discovery. I guess most of you will notice that nowadays people no longer primarily focus on good food or drink, but they also take the visual of a place into consideration. I found out that Kavling DPR had now been a new cafe enclave in Sidoarjo, with no lack of choices for coffee and food. You can literally do cafe-hopping in one day easily!

First stop was Labuda Kopi, which was striking out with its aesthetic exterior. The indoor area is a bit small though.

Random cat lmao

Salted Caramel Coffee - IDR23,000
This drink did not disappoint. From the first to the last sip, the salty note of the salted caramel remained bold and undiluted.

Labuda Golden Monkey - IDR20,000
I was expecting the banana taste to be more prominent. I thought it was decent, but it ain't something that I would crave for more.

Nachos - IDR18,000
Nachos can hardly go wrong as an appetizer, especially when Doritos is used (didn't mean to be sarcastic lol). It could be executed better with more generous amount of sauce though.

French Fries - IDR16,000
Although I would prefer crispier fries, it was pretty good and dosed with the right degree of saltiness.

The snacks and drinks at Labuda were generally good. Prices are wallet-friendly so if you are broke but still want to chill on weekends, be sure to shortlist this place. I would also suggest you to come before dark, as the place will be filled with smokers by then.

Not far from Labuda, there is a Japanese-inspired cafe called Taketama. The interior and decors here are worth mentioning, especially if you love anything Japanese. The indoor area is furnished in wood and warm lights while the outdoor, albeit hot, somehow gives the zen vibe. Make sure to dine in the shades!

Looking around, the cafe is quite big and there are ample seats for everyone. There was just enough natural sunlight to take nice pictures.

Genmaicha - IDR15,000
For IDR15,000, it was totally worth it given the presentable look. It had a robust taste like how Japanese tea was supposed to be.

Latte - IDR22,000
My latte took soooo long to come! Anyway, the drink was creamy with a nutty notes. It could do better with more of a caffeine kick. On a side note, I love how the drink interestingly came with a special custom-made ceramic mug.

I am definitely looking forward to exploring more cafes that Kavling DPR has to offer (I can picture this area filled with tons of new cafe in the near future). How I wish I were living nearby!
