[Re-branded] Teras Rumah, Surabaya
Teras Rumah? Honestly speaking I did not know what to expect upon knowing this cafe name (teras rumah literally means 'house porch/veranda'). Should I expect a semi open-air cafe with wooden chairs where I could relax while sipping a cuppa coffee? Well, I got more surprised to see its location that seemed to be outta-nowhere. Teras Rumah is situated in the middle of the bustling Rungkut Industri, an area I would call unfavorable to chill at. But just look at their appearance!
The atmosphere was quaint; although there were quite a lot of patrons, they all did not make too much noise, giving the place a bit of 'hidden gem' feel. The whole place actually looks like a real house porch, so I hope this answers your curiosity whether Teras Rumah truly lives up to its name.
Es Kopi Susu Gurih
They do make good coffee. The kopi susu, which was served in an old skool glass (warkop style lol), was smooth and not too acidic. I love how there was a hint of savoriness, just like the name had suggested.
Es Milo STRONGGG! - IDR18,000
Though the name contained the word 'strong', it was basically just the good ol' Milo drink without any addition. It is nothing like Milo dinosaur, even. I just thought it was a bit pricey coming with this basic combination.

Banana Choco Cheese Roll - IDR20,000
As we had already eaten lunch somewhere else before, we just ordered this BCC roll to share. The dish tasted like crispy crepes with generous banana slices and grated cheese inside. It did not stand out, but it did not disappoint either.
Teras Rumah surely knows how to capture the hearts of cafe enthusiasts in Surabaya as it offers good coffee and pleasant space (though it can get very humid at noon). I also appreciate that this cafe don't try to be flashy like so many other new cafes in Surabaya. Hopefully they can work out more on their menus and make it more vary, then it will be a perfect place to chill and worth travelling to.

*UPDATE: Teras Rumah has now been re-branded as 'Dapoer Tjipta Rasa'
