[Closed] Danora Chocolate Factory, Surabaya

There are too many new places in Surabaya, and one of them is Danora Chocolate Factory in Praxis. From the name, it sounds like every chocoholic's dream place right? It could be true, since you can find many kinds of chocolate creations here. I was actually looking forward to visiting this place, as there are not many chocolate specialty places in Surabaya apart from Dapur Cokelat.

DCF Vanilla Chocolate - IDR35,000
Hot chocolate with a hint of vanilla which made a perfect rainy day treat. It came with a piece of chocolate cookie.

DCF Dark Chocolate - IDR30,000
The chocolate was actually of good quality - it did not taste artificial, but somehow it lacked the chocolatiness.

Chocolate Fried Chicken - IDR38,500
It was basically chicken coated in chocolate-based seasoning and then deep fried. Sounds unique? Wait until you see the unappetizing presentation. My dining company actually said it tasted quite good though, it's just that I was taken aback by how dull the dish looked.

Ayam Goreng Kalasan - IDR38,500
Normal Kalasan-style fried chicken with fried tempe, tofu, rice and sambal. Mediocre, but at least the portion was satisfying.

Chicken Teriyaki - IDR46,000
I changed the rice to fries, which was later came in a separate plate. Fries was crispy but rather dry. The chicken was just average - the meat was tender but the teriyaki sauce was too salty. At this point I felt like gourmet food was not DCF's forte.

Assorted Chocolate Crack - IDR150,000 / ounce
Done with the main course, my last hope was to try their specialty, chocolate. Being quite expensive, I had high expectation with their chocolate crack. They were predominantly sweet, both the dark and white chocolates. The froot loops chocolate was the sweetest among all flavors, since the cereals themselves are already sweet on their own. Oh, there was even spicy chocolate that you can use to prank your friend lol.

Overall, Danora Chocolate Factory is not a place I would return to, sorry to say. It looks promising from the outside, but you really cannot judge a book by its cover. Their chocolate was decent, but it is definitely not something I would indulge on a regular basis.
