The Swimming Club, Kuala Lumpur

During my recent KL trip, I managed to check out The Swimming Club, a relatively new pool bar at The Journal Hotel KL. I had been eyeing on this place after seeing people's Instagram feed, and I was glad that I got to do it despite not staying in that hotel. The Journal Hotel KL is located within walking distance from Bukit Bintang MRT/Monorail Station, and once you get there just take the lift from the lobby to the 11th floor - that's where The Swimming Club is located.

The Swimming Club is an ideal place to unwind with friends while getting that sun-kissed glow. The place is bathed in vibrant pink color, paired with neon lights and blue pool that make it more visually appealing. I think it is not too much if we call it one of the most Instagrammable bars in KL. Oh, do take note that for non-hotel guests, each of you is required to order 1 drink and 1 food, and you are not allowed to use the pool facility. Minimum order policy is also applicable for poolside seating.

Iced Cappuccino - RM15
The iced cap was so weird. It literally had no foam lol. It also lacked the distinctive bitter-sweetness of quality coffee.

Iced Cafe Latte - RM15
It was below average. It had too much milk, overwhelming the ratio of coffee within. At least it was refreshing to drink.

Chicken Popcorn - RM22
The chicken popcorn came with Thai-style dipping sauce. The chicken bites were firm and a bit tough to chew, but they were fried crisply.

Banana Strudel - RM20
It was banana wrapped in baked puff pastry and served with butterscotch sauce. The banana chunks inside were soft. The banana taste was distinctive, as I hoped, instead of something artificial.

Overall, The Swimming Club is one relaxed place to share sundown moments with friends while having some drink on hand. Some things could be improved, such as customer service and serving time. Service was not very hospitable despite being a hotel F&B premise. Our food also took quite long to serve, perhaps because it was cooked in the hotel's main kitchen and it took some time to deliver it to the 11th floor. Well, as long as I got good social media contents, those 'misses' did not really matter to me anymore haha.
