Singapore Botanic Gardens + Atlas Coffeehouse, Singapore

One day, my friend and I went to Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) to walk around and take pictures. To get there, we need to take Circle Line MRT and alight at Botanic Gardens station. The entrance gate (Bukit Timah gate) is right next to the MRT exit. There is no admission fee to SBG, but entrance to National Orchid Garden is chargeable. If you think SBG is just another boring garden or park, you are totally wrong! This garden is soooo big and I never manage to go around the whole complex (coz I hate walking too much and I cannot stand being roasted under the sun lol). One should really plan to spend the whole day here if they want to see all parts of SBG.

I would strongly recommend tourists to visit SBG, especially if you are a nature enthusiast. Just so you know, SBG is stated as UNESCO World Heritage Site *claps*! It might not be a touristy place, but it is definitely worth a visit when you happen to be in this little red dot. Well, I hope SBG could retain its serenity as I don't want it to get swarmed by tourists like Merlion Park lol.

After visiting SBG, we walked out from the same entrance gate and headed toward Bukit Timah Road to find a place to chill, whereby we stumbled upon Atlas Coffeehouse. Atlas Coffeehouse is a hipster cafe brought to you by the team behind Assembly Coffee (which has unfortunately been closed for good). It can be reached within a short walk from Singapore Botanic Gardens. The menu is simple, consisting of some unique brunch items (unique means you will not find eggs benedict or croque monsieur here), sweet treats which include the trending on-the-pan hotcakes, and of course, coffee. It is a good thing if you are bored with the usual cafe fares.

You can get a glass of plain water from the water dispenser near the cashier

BBQ Bacon Baked Beans on Toast - $16
This dish consists of slow-cooked beef brisket, pork sausages, caramelized onions, sunny side up and sundried tomato on sourdough. I never expected this dish to come in enormous portion! Anyway, it would be better if they put scrambled eggs instead of sunny side (I forgot to ask the staff whether the egg was interchangeable). The baked beans tasted too tangy for my liking though. The rest of the element was okay, nothing really special.

Salmon Soba Bowl - $19.30
It is a good option to have Japanese-inspired dish for brunch. The poached salmon was soft and well-seasoned, although the skin could be crispier. The yogurt sauce was not too thick and it gave refreshing taste to the salmon.

I would definitely be willing to travel all the way to Atlas again. I like its hipster and cozy vibes - pretty much explains its popularity among youngsters. The price might not be very friendly for my pocket, but the quality and the serving size of the food are worth the price. No GST and service charge imposed so, good news uh?
