Bebini Gelati, Surabaya
Hello folks! First of all, in this special occasion, allow me to wish you happy Chinese new year for those who celebrate! Have a prosperous year ahead! Anyway, I'm back in Surabaya for 5 days (so fast ikr) and right after I landed I made a visit to Bebini Gelati. Bebini Gelati is a gelato parlor owned by Chef Arnold Poernomo (you must be familiar with this guy right?) and her fiancé, Tiffany Soetanto. Bebini Gelati itself had been participating many times in food bazaars before it finally opened a physical cafe on Jl. Dharmahusada, right next to Buah Hati School.
The place has indoor and outdoor seats, whereby we chose to sit indoor as the weather was too humid outside. We then proceeded to the counter to have a look at their selection of gelato (oh btw they serve hot meals as well, so if you want to taste Chef Arnold's creation you may try their main course).
At the gelato counter, could sample as many flavor as we like, and we ended up sampling almost all 16 flavors coz we were kiasu like that. It is so hard to make our decisions since all flavors were so good and each one had its own uniqueness. If you are coming in groups or you are simply indecisive, you may want to try their Fine Nine Platter which consists of 9 gelato on the cone with 9 different flavors.
As a common practice in every gelato shop, each of us was served a glass of plain water
Hot Latte - IDR30,000
Unable to live without coffee, I got myself a cup of hot latte. For me, this latte was too foamy but other than that it was fine.
The Nutty Cereal Killer - IDR28,000 (single scoop)
This was simply amazing! The gelato was soft and the cereal flavor was bold. A must try!
Unicorn - IDR28,000 (single scoop)
As written in their Instagram, this colorful gelato is made using butterfly pea flower, strawberries, cream and taro. Apart from its unique-sounding ingredients, it tasted like frozen yogurt to me. Love it!
Arnold's Grumpy Cookie & Lekker Crunch - IDR40,000 (double scoop)
Arnold's Grumpy Cookie, what a cute yet unique name! It tasted like a much better version of cookies & cream gelato with some wow factors I could not describe. The Lekker Crunch was nice as well, it was a good twist to our traditional lekker snack (crispy thin pancake with banana and chocolate fillings).
Overall, I super love this place. The price is indeed on the steep side, but it is worth-getting considering the quality and taste - moreover, it is owned by celebrity chef. You should really try Bebini Gelati when you happen to be around the area!
