Pause Coffee, Surabaya

I'm kinda a late bird to Pause Coffee so I didn't catch any worm. It has been around since before the pandemic hit yet I only visited it recently. Pause Coffee opens as early as 6.30am, so if you are an office worker at nearby business district, you may want to grab a cup of coffee here on your way to work. The cafe is painted in a calm shade of white and blue, with some retro-looking pictures and calendar which give us a glimpse of the olden days.

Flat White with Oatside Milk - IDR31,000
I had the regular milk replaced with Oatside milk for IDR6,000. Although the espresso felt a tad limp, I loved how the acidity was-well masked by the oat milk, making it much more pleasant for those who are bored of the usual coffee.

Cold Blue Pea Latte - IDR33,000
I think it's so weird because the color ain't blue despite being described as a blue pea latte on the menu (cmiiw). Nothing distinctive from this drink though, tasted like normal latte to me.

Truffle Fries - IDR28,000
The shoestring fries were crisply fried on the outside and the smell of truffle immediately hit. Although it's not the best in town, it still had a distinct truffle fragrance and taste sufficient for us to clear the plate.

All in all, it is not surprising to see why Pause Coffee has its own regular patrons. With such a strong presence, fair pricings and prime location in the heart of the city, this cafe has basically been running like a well-oiled machine.
