Kool Pat Creamery + Möge Tee, Jakarta

Rain or shine, ice cream is never a wrong choice when you're searching for dessert. But ice cream and gelato are so yesteryear. Ice swirl is the new in-thing. I think ice swirl machine is more efficient compared to industrial ice cream machine, as it gives you all the control when creating your own desserts, hence the endless possibilities. You can combine traditional ice cream with any mix-in; from fruit, cereals to cookies. Besides ice cream, the machine can also blend shakes, slushies, custard, and more, how versatile is that?!

While strolling along Cove at Batavia PIK, I spotted this cute-looking Kool Pat Creamery which sold ice swirl and coffee. The place is decked in pastel blue aesthetic with combination of retro and modern looks. The menu will get you overwhelmed with choices, as you can have the milk base replaced with yogurt or oat milk (say what?!).

Sweet Mellow Pat - IDR43,000

100% no regret opting for the oat milk base! The swirl featured a blend of cornflakes and Biscoff cookie, which resulted in a sweet, creamy wholesome taste and grainy texture. No element was too apparent to feel overwhelming here — everything was mild enough to create a fantastic mix together. A definite must-try for you!

Dear Jakarta, please stop hogging all the good stuff :'). Surabaya definitely needs more ice swirl place like this. Well, I could see why Kool Pat is always packed, especially in the afternoon. Do note that the place has constrained space so expect long waiting time during peak hours.

If you think Jakarta has had enough bubble tea shop, think again. The Chinese bubble tea brand, Möge Tee, has recently opened up an outlet next to Kool Pat Creamery at PIK. Tbh I had never heard of the brand before, it was the storefront that drew me in. The decor was clean and simple, with one part of wall covered with flowers that gave the vibe of cafes in London.

Berry Mango Yakult - IDR37,000

Given the effin' hot weather, I decided to just order something refreshing. The Berry Mango Yakult drink was truly a taste of the tropics. It was fresh, tasty, and it helped to cut through the dense and heavy ice swirl I had earlier at Kool Pat. The drink also contained strawberry bits that were bursting with juice as I bit into them. It was truly a perfect drink for a hot day! Coincidentally I got to enjoy it while taking a leisurely walk along the seaside *cue Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha's Romantic Sunday*.

I think the variety of tea here was rather disappointing since there was no milk tea. What also drove me crazy was that I could not find my favorite OG pearl to add to my tea. To be fair, the fruit-based tea I had was refreshing and surprising. The wait time after ordering was extremely quick (less than 5 minutes), but regardless of the wait time, the quality of the drink was sublime. Pricing is pretty standard, falling between IDR30k to IDR45k per drink. The cashier staff was friendly and ready to help with recommendations. I would definitely swing by this place again for another tea or maybe pastry.
