[Closed] OTW Food Street, Malang
OTW Food Street is a place in Malang that carries the concept of food street. OTW offers a wide selection of food and beverages you can find on the street side, except that they come with finer quality and presentation. This place looks like a food court with several stalls (they call these stalls 'terminal') selling different type of food, from nasi goreng, martabak, to cendol. OTW could be very packed even on weekdays, so you might want to prepare yourself to be in the waiting list. Luckily the place was just partially filled up when I came.
Since it is a 'food court', you just have to come to your desired terminal, then make your order and payment there. You will have to remember your table number (it is written on your table) as the staff will serve the food to your table later on.
Iced Tea - IDR8,000
Standard sweet iced tea, no further explanation.
Water with Lemon - IDR8,000
Funny how have to pay for lemon-infused water here, while in SG some cafes provide it free of charge lol.
Thai Milk Tea - IDR18,000
The Thai tea was refreshing, but I would prefer it to be milkier. By the way, you can also add toppings like pearl and jelly at an extra cost.
Nasi Campur OTW - IDR30,000
It looks like nasi Padang to me haha. For the beef, you can have it with the normal beef slice or gyutan (tongue). The sambal was super spicy, you have been warned.
Nasi Goreng Gila - IDR28,000
The fried rice tasted crazily spicy, that is why it is called 'gila' (crazy). Inside the fried rice, there were sliced carrots, chicken meat and sausages, not forgetting a fried egg on top. This dish tasted pedestrian, it was something I could make at home.
Rice Bowl Ayam Telur Asin - IDR28,000
I think the salted egg is more like coating rather than sauce. The chicken was crispy and tender while the salted egg flavor was quite rich. It was a bit spicy as they put a few chopped chilis on it, but it was still tolerable for my palate.
Rice Bowl Kulit Ayam Telur Asin - IDR25,000
Don't you agree with me that chicken skin and salted egg is a deadly combination? In a good way of course. It does not take a genius to tell that this dish could easily be everyone's favorite!
I hope this post could be your reference of where to eat in Malang. Since this place is packed most of the time, it is not recommended to stay here for a long time - there are other people behind you waiting to get seats too. Oh ya, OTW also has branches in Jakarta and Surabaya, and I cannot wait to try it in my own hometown Surabaya. Till then!
