Random Eats: July - September 2015

Item: Grilled Beef & Pork
Location: Manna Korean Cuisine (Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, Singapore)
The meat was so generous and it was served on a sizzling hot plate. Both beef and pork were tender and juicy. The marination was delicious as well.

Item: Oreo Bingsu - $12.50
Location: Snowman Desserts (Nex, Singapore)
You really cannot go wrong with Oreo, you know. The shaved ice was fine but a bit on the bland side, even with the help of condensed milk provided.

Item: Baked Macaroni
Location: Casa Verde (Gardens by the Bay, Singapore)
The baked macaroni was a little too cheesy for me. If you are an avid cheese lover, this dish would be perfect for you!

Item: Cajun Rice Platter - $4.30
Location: Popeye's (Square 2, Singapore)
The serving size was just nice for lunch. The Cajun rice was quite flavorful with chopped paprika inside. The chicken was okay, I still prefer the usual Popeye's chicken to this boneless one.

Item: Roasta Chicken Rice -  $5
Location: KFC (HarbourFront Centre, Singapore)
It looks very much like Hainanese chicken rice, doesn't it? Anyway, the rice could be more fragrant but the roasted chicken was nice with tasty marination.

Item: KFC Yogurt - $1
Location: KFC (Eastpoint, Singapore)
It surprised me when I saw KFC started selling froyo. I got even more surprised when I noticed the price - it cost only $1 for the cone version, with choices of original and passionfruit flavors. The topping is only limited to 3 kinds: mango sauce, strawberry sauce and Froot Loops, each costs 50 cents. However, don't expect it to taste like Llaollao, or even the basic Yami Yogurt. It tasted rather diluted. But I cannot really complain since it only costs a buck.

Item: Earl Grey Milk Tea with Pearl - $2.80
Location: Gong Cha (AMK Hub, Singapore)
It was aromatic and refreshing to drink in the hot weather. I like Gong Cha because their drinks are smooth and they do not taste artificial, unlike some of the other brands out there.

Item: Mr. Happy - $1.70
Location: Dunkin' Donuts (AMK Hub, Singapore)
It is a smiley-faced donut with banana frost and custard filling. Actually I could not taste any banana flavor in this donut lol. The custard filling was creamy and the sweetness was just right.

Item: Double Chocolate Frappe - $4.60 (medium size)
Location: McDonald's (51@AMK, Singapore)
It was damn good! The frappe was topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and chocolate powder. It tasted very chocolatey, suitable for hardcore chocolate lovers like me hehe.

Item: Oreo Cheesecake - $4.95
Location: McDonald's (51@AMK, Singapore)
This is probably one of the best Oreo cheesecake I have ever tasted so far. This is something that does not easily make you sick. The Oreo bites placed inside the cake made this cake more sinful and delicious.

Item (left): Kaya Waffle - $1.50
Item (right): Strawberry Waffle - $1.50
Location: Mugiya (Paya Lebar Square, Singapore)
The seeping out aroma of waffle always tempts me to drop by Mugiya and get some waffle. The waffle here is not the crispy type - it is thin and tastes like thick pancake folded in two. The waffle was freshly made and still hot when I received it. The kaya and strawberry jam were spread on one side and flipped over. So yummy!

Item: Basil Minced Pork with Rice - $4.50
Location: The Food Inn (Esplanade Xchange, Singapore)
The portion was big with a heap of minced pork meat, although the basil flavor was not very strong. The meal was made complete with fried egg and some lettuce. The basil pork was not too spicy, I got no problem with it.

Item: GRUB Breakfast Set - $15
Location: GRUB (Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Singapore)
The breakfast set consists of scrambled eggs, chicken cheese sausage, mushrooms, focaccia & greens. A glass of iced lemon tea was included in this set too. It was such a filling dish and it was yummy too! The scrambled egg was a bit plain but could do with a little sprinkle of pepper. The sausage and sauteed mushrooms were just okay. The highlight for me was the chili jam which was not spicy but more to sweeter note.

Item: Cereal Fish Rice - $6
Location: Food Republic (Suntec City Mall, Singapore)
I really love anything with cereal, be it fish, chicken or shrimp. For $6, I think this dish is very affordable, as we got 2 gigantic fish fillets. It looks like fish and chips with rice and fried egg lol. The fish was flaky and moist, but the cereal was the real star of the dish. The fish tasted damn nice when paired with the sweet, sugary cereal bits.

Item: Ferrero Rocher Gelato - IDR13,500
Location: Artemy Italian Gelato (Jl. Perwakilan, Yogyakarta)
A single scoop of gelato is priced at IDR13,500, which is super cheap (everything seems to be cheap in Yogya lol). You can have it in a plastic cup or cone. I chose to have it with cone. The Ferrero Rocher flavor was quite unique, it was both nutty and chocolatey with Ferrero Rocher chunks in it. It was not too creamy since gelato contained less fat than ice cream.

Item: BBQ Chicken on Rice - IDR35,500
Location: Thai to Me (Tunjungan Plaza 4, Surabaya)
This looks like Indonesian nasi campur ya? The BBQ sauce lacked of kick, but I enjoyed the chicken, which was tender and generously given.
